Having fallen into a state of disrepair for which the City of Montebello did not possess sufficient resources to remedy per the business model that had prevailed for nearly 100 years, in September of 2022 the Montebello City Council voted unanimously to reimagine the property next to the 60 Freeway as a completely rebuilt 3,200 yard regulation 9-hole golf course (35.3 Rating / 120 Slope), a new 9-hole 3-par golf course (6 holes during the day and 9 holes of lit golf during the evening), with a Topgolf next door.
The rebranded golf facility opened on time and on budget the last week of April. The Indigo Sports Division of Troon Golf has been retained to operate and maintain the two golf courses and has already begun to reach out to the high schools and junior programs to begin offering their community-minded benefits.
