On behalf of the Southern California Golf Association, I’d like to personally welcome you to Vision 2028.
More than welcoming you, I’d like to invite you to take part. I am a staunch believer in the power of collaboration and building an engaged network of talented, diverse and motivated people who seek common goals. On our own, the SCGA is capable of great things. But together, with you, we can truly shape and enhance the way the Southern California golf community experiences the game and all that it gives to its players, club members, administrators, manufacturers and industry professionals.
Vision 2028 is a collaborative and intentional framework for our next five years as an Association. In April of 2023, our entire staff met at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum where John F. Kennedy delivered his New Frontier speech in which he acknowledged the past achievements of the country but called upon the nation to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future. On that day in April, not coincidentally, we embarked upon our own New Frontier. All of our teammates were asked to create pillars and values that would guide the SCGA forward. We needed to clearly define what we stood for and what we stood on.
I was amazed at the thoughtfulness and consideration given to the assignment. Our team takes an immense amount of pride not only in what we do, but who we do it for. Through this process of collaboration, we found our aspirational identity.
But what now?
It’s one thing to know what you want to do, but it’s an entirely different mission to begin to execute against it.
Enter Vision 2028.
Yes, it’s a five-year plan. But the parallels with the Coliseum don’t stop with JFK. In 2028, the Olympics and Paralympics will return to Los Angeles at that very same venue. With it comes the very best athletes in the world at the peak of their careers. They will amaze, they will inspire and they will leave a legacy. What a serendipitous occasion to emulate.
It, too, is our goal to enter 2028 as the best possible version of ourselves and we believe in our plan to guide us there.
But we cannot do it alone. Again, I invite your active participation in the journey. Your experience and expertise are paramount to our shared success. Together, we will reach new heights and pave the path for the most enjoyable, equitable and empowering game of golf the region has ever seen.
Together we will leave a legacy for the immense benefit of all those to come.
Welcome to Vision 2028.
