Rolling Hills Estates, CA (April 8, 2025) — Team California, a newly formed elite junior golf initiative, held its Spring Player Development Camp April 5–6 at the prestigious Rolling Hills Country Club, welcoming the state’s top junior golf talent for an immersive weekend of elite training, mentorship and on-course competition.

This camp marked a key moment in the launch of Team California, a groundbreaking collaboration between the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA), Southern California PGA (SCPGA) and San Diego Junior Golf Association (SDJGA). Backed by the United States Golf Association (USGA), Team California is one of 16 pilot programs nationwide created to fuel the U.S. National Development Program—America’s first unified pathway from junior golf to the highest levels of the sport.

“I’m super proud of every team member we shared the weekend with,” said Team Captain Mo Martin. They all brought something unique to Team California and have been incredible representatives of the really bright future we have in the game of golf.”

Following a team lunch and reflection on what it means to represent Team California, players honed their skills in a structured range session before heading onto the course for a dynamic competition, combining front-nine best ball and back-nine alternate shot formats. The evening capped off with an inspirational team dinner featuring LPGA star Lizette Salas, former LPGA Major Champion and Team Captain Mo Martin and General Manager of Palos Verdes Country Club Jim Gormley, PGA. The trio later headlined a Q&A panel to share insights from their professional journeys.

Sunday emphasized camaraderie and creativity, beginning with breakfast, team photos and a unique Thrive activity encouraging players to teach each other off-course skills. Additional breakout training and wedge competitions prepared players for the final 9-hole on-course challenge—with a twist: players competed individually using only four clubs plus a putter, fostering adaptability and strategy.

The camp concluded with heartfelt reflections and closing remarks, leaving athletes inspired and better prepared for their journeys ahead.
